Subject: If you didn't know this was a Canadian Pacific Marshalling Yard, you could be forgiven for thinking you're seeing a Union Pacific refuelling rack. Here, UP locomotives outnumber CP locomotives at the Lethbridge Marshalling Yard. Photo taken July 8/08.

Subject: This is a view, looking west, of the Lethbridge (Kipp) Marshalling Yard. An empty coal train is waiting to head west into the Crowsnest Pass for a refill at one of the coal mines in the Sparwood area of B.C. You can also see a pair of AC4400CW's, CEFX1054 & CP9664 on their way to the fuelling racks which are just visible as the "white towers" in the background. The red building is the yard office.

The shuttle vehicle is just arriving to pick up the crew. Following a crew change, this manifest consist will be heading west on the Crowsnest Sub to British Columbia. November 16/07.

Subject: A pair of Union Pacific SD9043AC locomotives, 8292 and 8271 are just about to enter the CPR Lethbridge (Kipp) marshalling yard from the west with a unit potash train. These empty cars are being returned to Saskatchewan for a refill. This is one of the few occasions where at least one CP locomotive is not part of the consist. Subject: This is the Royal Canadian Pacific special passenger train. For more information on this train see photos "CP3084_1 to _8" further down the list. Locomotive 4106 is a FP9A built by GMD as CN FP9A #6515 in 1957. It was sold to VIA in 1978 and became VIA #6515. Then remanufactured in Montreal in 1984 and renumbered to VIA #6307. Subsequently sold to Ohio Central in 2002, then acquired by CP for it's Royal Canadian Pacific train service in 2006 and repainted in the Maroon/Grey "Script" paint scheme at NRE, Capreol, ON in April 2007. CP4106 replaces CP4101. Unit 3084 is a GP38-2. This photo taken at mile 68 on the Laggan Sub on September 27/07.

Subject: This train was tied down at Mile 63.8 on the Laggan Sub. This photo was taken just as the locomotives were beginning to move off the siding onto the main line, heading west. Both CP9582 and CP9819 are AC4400CW's. The first third of the consist was made up of grain cars, followed by autoracks and the remaining third were intermodal containers. September 27/07.

Subject: Four Union Pacific SD9043AC's have just arrived from the Crowsnest Pass on the Crowsnest Subdivision. This consist would have entered Canada from northern Idaho at Eastport; from there travelling on the Kingsgate Sub to Yahk, then the Moyie Sub to Cranbrook and the Cranbrook Sub to the Crowsnest Pass. This is one of the rare occasions where there are no CPR locomotives in the consist. Photo taken on March 31/07 in CPR's Lethbridge Marshalling Yards.

Subject: One of CP's newest locomotives, an ES44AC built by GE. This is #8838, newly delivered in December 2006. It is on the point of an empty unit grain train which will be heading east on the Taber Sub, manned by a crew out of Lethbridge, AB. The original #8838 was a GP9, built by GMD in 1959 and later rebuilt by CP as GP9u, chop-nosed and renumbered to #1697 in 1987. However, since a derailment in 2004, the "Tilt Train" has been limited to a speed of 100km/hour (60 miles/hour) on curves, pending the outcome of an investigative panel. This photograph was taken on November 3/06 as the Tilt Train was at the Townsville Passenger Station, prior to continuing its journey north to Cairns, Queensland,

Subject: An AC4400CW (CP9781) and an ES44AC (CP8731) are hauling this unit intermodal train west towards the Mount Macdonald tunnel under the Rogers Pass, B.C. The background mountain peaks are not visible due to smoke from forest fires. This photo was taken at Beavermouth (mile 63) on the Mountain Subdivision on September 8/06

Subject: An eastbound unit sulphur train, lead by CP9713 with CP9622, both AC4400CW's, at Divide on the Laggan Subdivision. The unusual mountain and sky colours are due to smoke from forest fires. September 7/06.

Subject: This is a westbound unit grain train, headed by CP8602 with CP9816 at Divide on the Laggan Subdivision. CP9545 was the robot, bringing up the rear of the consist. All three locomotives are AC4400CW's. September 7/06.
