Subject: A lashup of four locomotives, CP9671, UP8280, UP8259 and CP9640 working cars at a grain terminal on the Aldersyde Sub, south of Vulcan, AB. The CP units are AC4400CW's while the UP locomotives are SD9043AC's. I didn't stay around long enough to see if grain cars were being dropped off or picked up, or both. April 8/09

Subject: Wind turbine blades being off loaded at the CPR siding, south of Wilson (mile 55) on the Montana Sub. Each blade required two specially modified flat cars. These turbines are made by Vestas Wind Systems (Danish manufacturer, seller, installer, and servicer of wind turbines, currently the largest in the world). September 16/09.

Subject: It is not normally recommended to take photographs, aiming directly into the sun. but sometimes it's well worth it. The silhouette of this AC4400CW is impressive. CP9829 is leading this three locomotive consist, two pulling, one pushing (see following photo), a unit coal train, heading west into the Rogers Pass. The lake is the Columbia Reach, on the southern end of Kinbasket Lake. The background mountains belong to the Dogtooth Range of the Purcell Mountains in the Rocky Mountains. August 19/05, along the Beavermouth section of the Mountain sub.

Subject: This is the Royal Canadian Pacific, Canadian Rockies LuxuryTour train. To quote the official website: "A witness to events that have shaped the world, and a conveyor of royalty, presidents, prime ministers and celebrities - the history of these Canadian Pacific Railway Carriages are legendary. The Royal Canadian Pacific's reputation as the world's most luxurious train has made it the preferred choice of travel to some of the most famous individuals of modern history. " This tour left Calgary, AB on June 2/06; spent the first night in Golden, B.C. and last night here, at Summit Lake in the Crowsnest Pass. This area, also known as "the Crow" in CPR circles, is the end of the Crowsnest Subdivision and the beginning of the Cranbrook Subdivision. This train will be travelling east on the Crowsnest Subdivision to Lethbridge, AB. Here is a sequence of eight photos (CP3084_1 to _8) that document this journey on June 4/06. Subject: The High Level Bridge was lit up on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. This bridge is the highest and longest of its type in the world. It measures 1839 meters long (1.14 miles) and sits 105 meters (344 feet) above the Oldman river bed. Construction began in 1907 and took 12,500 tonnes of steel. A CPR official stated that this bridge is good for another 100 years. Photo taken on September 5/09 in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Subject: A westbound 131 car potash unit train headed by CEFX117 and CEFX100, both SD90MAC's, leaving Kipp, AB. An AC4400CW (UP5578) and another SD90MAC (CEFX127) were inserted in the middle of the train. The CEFX units are jointly leased by Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific. Photo taken March 8/05. Subject: CP9715, an AC4400CW, is leading this empty coal train back to the Elk Valley Coal Mining Operations near Sparwood, in the southeast corner of British Columbia. The background mountain peak is in the Selkirk Range of the Rocky Mountains. CPR refers to this section of track as Beavermouth. August 19/05. From my CPR photo collection.
