These empty cars are being returned to Saskatchewan for a refill. This is one of the few occasions where at least one CP locomotive is not part of the consist. This consist would have entered Canada from northern Idaho at Eastport; from there travelling on the Kingsgate Sub to Yahk, then the Moyie Sub to Cranbrook and the Cranbrook Sub to the Crowsnest Pass. This is one of the rare occasions where there are no CPR locomotives in the consist. The lake is the Columbia Reach, on the southern end of Kinbasket Lake. The background mountains belong to the Dogtooth Range of the Purcell Mountains in the Rocky Mountains. CPR refers to this section of track as "Beavermouth". This is where the Beaver River empties into the Columbia Reach, which is on the southern end of Kinbasket Lake.
