Subject: This photo was taken January 2005 of the BR&P crossing at Springville,NY. This was a difficult bridge to photograph because it is blocked by trees everywhere as you can see. This is the best side view I could get with the sun lighting it up. I'm standing on the golf course.

Subject: While cross country skiing in Janaury 2005, I took some photos of this BR&P bridge in Springville,NY. It was a tough bridge to photograph. Blocked by trees as you'll see in the next picture. The upper deck is covered with snow, I was tempted to ski accross it. But with not being able to see the deck and verify its condition, I didn't cross.

Subject: A remaining tunnel of the BR&P east of Arcade and north of Farmerville Station. You'll notice that there are no car tracks going into the tunnel. That's because there is a solid layer of ice under the snow and we are stuck on a steep hill. It took a long half hour to back down the hill and not end up in the deep ditches on each side.

This was in January of 2004.

Subject: My friend Chris made this out -of- scale layover of where the Cross Forks yard use to be. It was incredibly helpful in getting a good understanding of the area. Chris is very knowledgeable of this area as he lives and hikes here year round. He was quite helpful in putting this trip and others together.

Looking down on the CSX Frontier Yard and NS Bison Yard. Although clouds obscure the yards a little you can see the West Shore row at Harlem Rd and Walden Ave. You also get a good view of the track layout of Frontier. You can also make out the ex-DLW row leaving the yard and the reservoir next to it.

This photo provides a better overall view of both yards. You can clearly see the ex-DL&W row coming out of the Bison Yard next to the reservoir and crossing over CSX at Frontier. You can see the former Palace Car Co roundhouse. The patch of grass next to it is where the West Shore roundhouse was located. This is according to the map on page 139 from the book, "A History of Railroads of Western New York."

csx-ns3: This photo further down the CSX mainline is the Central Terminal at the entrance/exit to the Belt Line. The large building opposite the terminal is the U.S. Post Office. The former CPRail Yard [SK Yard] is viewable at the top of the photo. There appears to be a Conrail unit parked near the SK Yard office but I couldn't verify it.

Subject: After riding the new rail to trail path in Lancaster, NY I stretched out my exploration east of Town Line Rd. This is the picture where the row crossed over Ellicott Creek near Wende Rd. Nothing but the concrete abutments remain. The creek is about 30 feet below.

The unconverted row is in good shape for the most part and looks as good as the B&S RR in PA shown below.

Subject: Mayville is out of view but is bottom and to the right. The Lake is on the left out of view. We are looking in a southerly direction. You can make out the right of way at bottom center of the picture and then bends up. If you follow a straight line from there you see a small lake near the upper center of the picture.

Subject: This picture is basically 5 miles directly opposite of the picture below. Mayville and the Lake are at the top. The small lake mentioned below is about center left. You can see the rr snaking around to the right of that "main rd" running through the center of the picture. The gorge is at the bottom of the picture.

Subject: This is just Lake Chautauqua while I'm headed back home via Dunkirk. The pollution layer was so thick that even at 4500 feet at Mayville I still couldn't see Lake Erie. It's the worst I've ever seen it. And no improvement over a year later.
