Subject: With Cargil behind us, we make the next turn on the Buffalo River to bring us in view of Concrete Central. In view are the three mobil marine leg towers and one stationary tower on the right. The stationary tower is connected to the main elevator via a conveyor belt at its base through a tunnel which is partially visible.

Subject: While tying up the boat, I tried to find a time stamp on this rail holding the pilings in place. The rail is so corroded that no stamp could be found on the facing up rail. I didn’t try to look underneath.

Subject: This was my first look inside Concrete Central and we are inside the stationary tower. This photo is looking straight up through the floor looking at some mechanical apparatus.

Subject: We are still under that stationary tower but outside looking into the holes in the concrete flooring. You really have to watch your step. There are holes everywhere outside along the entire loading area.

Subject: Back inside the stationary tower, you are now looking straight up the stairwell. I don’t know if the steps collapsed on their own or if “authorities” removed them for safety after some tragic falls occurred.

Subject: Now inside the elevator, the concrete structure looks pretty secure throughout the complex. What is not secure and quite worrisome is anything attached to it. Like these shoots. I never stood in the same place for more than it took me to get the picture.

Subject: I am told that small rail cars rolled into position, accepted stored grain and then rolled to the other end where the grain would be uploaded. You can see where the rails were bolted to the floor.

Subject: Now standing outside the elevator track side. There are 5 sets of tracks. All the rails have been pulled except for the train shed. Each of the 5 tracks inside the train shed have 3 unloading dumpers. The cars are pulled through the shed by an attached cable. Lots of overgrowth outside the shed but much of the apparatus inside the shed is still in place.

Subject: Now inside the shed where rail cars loaded and unloaded. I am standing at the foot of one of the dumpers among 3 on this particular track. Too much debris and poor lighting made it impossible to find a time stamp on the rails. You never want to stand or sit in anyone place for very long.
