Subject: Three UP SD9043AC's are taking this grain train west on the Crowsnest Sub. Leading the consist is UP8285, followed by UP8283 and UP8262. A CPR crew out of Lethbridge is manning this train, who will take it to the Crowsnest Pass and hand it over to a crew from Cranbrook, B.C. January 27/10.

Subject: CP8520 leading CP9755, hauling an 88 car container train east at mile 119.7 Maple Creek Subdivision. This section of track lies between Irvine and Walsh, AB. Both units are AC4400CW's. The first, CP8520 was built in 1998 while CP9755 was built in 2003. October 7/05 from my CPR photo collection.

Subject: What a difference 44 years make. This photo, showing CP9673, an AC4400CW and CP8217, a GP9u. CP9673 was delivered in 1998. CP8217 was built in 1954 as CP8502. CP rebuilt the unit in 1988 and renumbered it 8217. Today CP8217 is assigned to a Track Evaluation Car unit. This photo taken in Golden, B.C., April 27/06.

Subject: One of CP's newest locomotives, an ES44AC built by GE. This is #8838, newly delivered in December 2006. It is on the point of an empty unit grain train which will be heading east on the Taber Sub, manned by a crew out of Lethbridge, AB. The original #8838 was a GP9, built by GMD in 1959 and later rebuilt by CP as GP9u, chop-nosed and renumbered to #1697 in 1987. This photo taken December 24/06 at the east end of CPR's Lethbridge (Kipp) Marshalling Yard.

This train was manned by a crew out of Cranbrook, B.C. Note that the crew left the locomotive door open for air ciruclation on this warm day in spring. April 29/06.

Subject: This is the Royal Canadian Pacific special passenger train. For more information on this train see photos "CP3084_1 to _8" further down the list. Locomotive 4106 is a FP9A built by GMD as CN FP9A #6515 in 1957. It was sold to VIA in 1978 and became VIA #6515. Then remanufactured in Montreal in 1984 and renumbered to VIA #6307. Subsequently sold to Ohio Central in 2002, then acquired by CP for it's Royal Canadian Pacific train service in 2006 and repainted in the Maroon/Grey "Script" paint scheme at NRE, Capreol, ON in April 2007. CP4106 replaces CP4101. Unit 3084 is a GP38-2. This photo taken at mile 68 on the Laggan Sub on September 27/07.

Subject: This is Queensland's high speed passenger rail service. However, since a derailment in 2004, the "Tilt Train" has been limited to a speed of 100km/hour (60 miles/hour) on curves, pending the outcome of an investigative panel. This photograph was taken on November 3/06 as the Tilt Train was at the Townsville Passenger Station, prior to continuing its journey north to Cairns, Queensland,
Australia.
