As long as I can remember (1950"s), there were no passenger trains running
past West Hempstead towards Country Life Press, only freights. There was a
shuttle from CLP to Mitchel Field on what is now the Garden City secondary.
Way earlier there were "trolleys" that ran there. See "Steel Rails to the
Sunrise" for pictures of them. Then as now, the stations on that branch are
West Hempstead, Hemptead Gardens, Lakeview, Malverne, Westwood and then
Valley Stream. (See the current schedule).
