Re: (erielack) Holiday Armchair Model Railroading

The fuel distributor is Mirabito Oil, on Old Vestal Rd just(compass) east of
where it crosses under the DLW. Across the road is Vestal Asphalt, which
handles various types of aggregates besides making asphalt. I don't know if
either had rail service; it looks like Vestal Asphalt could have, but I've
never been inside the yard to look more closely. To railraod east of there,
and facing out on both Old Vestal Rd and Commerce Rd, is National Pipe and
Plastic, which does get rail service in the form of loads of plastic
pellets. I don't know if that plant was even built during the time you want
to model. The area that is now Town Square Mall(Wal Mart, Sam's, etc) was
mostly open land.

In JC, there was also Fair Play Caramels, which made candy. There were
sidings in the plant area between Willow and Baldwin Streets, though they
stopped using rail years ago, and are now defunct.
