Re: (erielack) the fate of the EL

I was going to say not true about the B&SW but now I am not sure.  I do know
most of it was at least OPERATED by Conrail.  At some point, and I am not
sure what year, Erie County IDA took ownership of the line north of Gowanda
and the Cattaraugus-Chautauqua County IDA took over the south end.  Conrail
operated the south end as far north as South Dayton, into the mid-1980s.

I remember watching and chasing CR-stenciled EL Geeps on a
several-trips-per-week local from Buffalo to Gowanda in the late 1970s.  I
also remember watching a PC Alco RSD-something switching the glue factory in
Gowanda when they dismantled the giant gantry crane there.  This would have
been the same time period.
