Re: (erielack) Forgeign Baggage Cars-Diamond and Short Baggage Car
Howard and List,
The consensus seems to be a single door 50 foot baggage, perhaps B&O. The
other possibility is a retouched photo of an inset door 40foot Erie express
boxcar, although the car seems longer than 40 feet.
Another interesting thought was seeking out express train consists. The
only information I am aware is an article in Flags, Diamonds and Statues
(ARHS Publication) from 1991 covering RPO operations on the CNJ. In that
article they covered the Interstate Express which was a joint Reading, CNJ
and Lackawanna operation. They gave 2 different consists, train 301(WB)
from 6/19/50 with 17 cars and train 306 (EB) on 2/24/62 with 15 cars.
Train 301 included 6 Lackawanna cars including RPO #1803, 5 Reading cars, 1
CNJ combine, Pullman sleeper "Willmar", 2 PRR cars, and 1 car each from SP
and NYC.
Train 306 included 2 Lackawanna cars, including an express boxcar, 1 Erie
car (making 3 total E-L cars), 5 Reading Cars, 2 CNJ cars and 5 PRR cars.
Any other consist info out there?
Thanks.
