With the exception of a few finishing touches, the new $53=2E1=20
million train station at Albany/Rensselaer, N=2EY=2E, is ready to=20
open=2E The only problem: Amtrak trains will continue to pass by=20
it en route to the old =93Amshack=94 facility just to its north=2E

The Albany Times-Union reported that the station is all but=20
ready for occupancy=2E But the Capital District Transportation=20
Authority, which built the station with state and federal=20
funding, hasn=92t struck a lease deal yet with Amtrak=2E

The CDTA=92s executive director told the newspaper that the=20
station could open without a formal lease=2E Amtrak and the=20
agency, however, would have to have a =93meeting of the minds=94=20
on terms for using the station=2E So far, that hasn=92t occurred=2E=20
