Proposed Amtrak station gets funding =20

WASHINGTON - The Senate Appropriations Committee has included=20
$1=2E5 million for an intermodal Amtrak station near the Whirlpool=20
Rapids Bridge in Niagara Falls, lawmakers said Tuesday=2E=20
Sens=2E Charles E=2E Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N=2EY=2E,=20
said the funds involve site purchase and various studies for=20
the station near Whirlpool and Main streets=2E=20

They said the funding will be used for protection of the nearby=20
Customs House, which will be incorporated into the intermodal=20
project=2E The funds for the Falls were included in a total of=20
$9=2E1 million for various Western New York projects, which have=20
been previously announced=2E=20

The House has not yet acted on the transportation appropriations=20
bill=2E=20
