Station Stops: Bowling Green, Ky.; Raton, N.M..

The former Louisville & Nashville depot in Bowling Green, Ky., will soon be
graced by four passenger cars that will be used to give children history
lessons and provide space for local groups to meet. Some 450 feet of track -
with rail donated by CSX and labor provided by R.J. Corman - was laid this
week for the cars to be displayed alongside the depot, the Bowling Green
Times reported. The Kentucky Railroad Museum provided former L&N sleeper
Pearl River. The other cars include former L&N sleeper Towering Pine, a
Pullman sleeper, and a 1914 coach.

The former Santa Fe station in Raton, N.M., - which now houses a Burlington
Northern Santa Fe communications center - could see Amtrak service again
under a $1.9 million redevelopment plan. The project includes $913,500 to
restore the stucco-over-brick station, the Albuquerque Journal reported, and
an additional $950,000 to build a new BNSF communications center. Amtrak's
Southwest Chief currently stops at a prefabricated station nearby. The 1903
station is on the National Register of Historic Places, and 93 percent of
the project's funding has been pledged or is in hand.
