Re: (erielack) Stillwells in Brazil?

Paul,

Are you sure the Stillwell may not be one of the 45 New Haven "Stillwell's" rebuilt to all coach similar to the Erie's after the collapse of the NYWB in which NH was part owner? Check and see if the ends do not have a rivited steel plate over the former motorman porthole windows.

Jerome

Subject: (erielack) Stillwells in Brazil?

The new issue of Diesel Era arrived over the weekend, and there's an article
in there about SW1200 exports outside North American. One photo shows an
SW1200 owned by E.F. Amapa of Brazil, and intriguingly, there's a train
behind it. The caption notes that "the passenger fleet includes ex-Erie
Stillwell and CNJ coaches." The photo was taken September 4, 2008.

E.F. Amapa appears to have lost its concession to operate the line in 2007
to a new operator, MMX, but does anyone know if the Stillwells are still
extant on this line in Brazil?

Thanks,

    - Paul
