Re: (erielack) BX Painting oddities continued...



This series is listed as (50400-50489), but I don't have any of the 
later ORERs that would show it.  Paul, I think this car (50480) was 
never GMY, but rather this box car red was its EL passenger car scheme 
because it was painted at Meadville and not Susquehanna.  The latter 
shop did the GMY cars.  I think that explains the photo of (138) in the 
EL Color Guide (p.30) which is box car red also and likely an MDV car.

There was a third group too, the DL&W BXs that never got EL passenger 
numbers and went with their DL pass.numbers directly into this EL 
(50400-50489) series.  One other interesting note (with photos you can 
actually make it out on) is that it seems the renumbering of most of 
these cars (into 50400-50489) was done at Scranton.  They all seem to 
have the 'S' (followed by the date) which indicates that.  So Scranton 
just did the quickie patch paint and renumbering.
