(erielack) RE: [DelawareLackawanna] Today's PT-98

Wonder if indeed its coming to Scranton.  Oh- always thought someone could
do a real easy early EL scheme with magnets for a photo special, there must
have been patched ex Erie units but I don't remember seeing a photo of one.

I know the guy with the Erie in Port Jervis has been over and had it running
the other day and was over there again tonight.  We are trying to find out
when and where it leaving

We arrived in town early.......about 7:30AM..very unusual for
me......anyway, it wasn't long before we heard activity, and the LL-1 came
up the Diamond branch into the yard with the 2453 and the 4068.....although
the 4068 was of-line. They had 12 cars. On the leg of the wye the 2452 was
tied on to the 3642, and only the 3642 was on-line. The PT-98 crew was
working with the 211 and the 405...but this was not to be the power for the
98......they coupled the 2453 from the LL-1 to their power.....and then that
crew went and took the 2452 and the 3642 out of town with the 2452 heading
long end first with the 12 cars. Not being too enthused to chase a
"hammerhead", we stood by as the 2453,211,and the 2453 ventured east out of
town and returned later with 18 empty grain cars and 3 propane empties. They
took them to Taylor, while we entertained ourselves with D&H trains, 931,255
and 930 during the course of the morning. At about 1:30 the three units
returned from Taylor with a cut of grain loads, (18) and three propane. Tied
on to the rear of the power was CP 9143, an SD-90-43-AC...it was off line
but looked entirely out-of-place (HUGE) coupled to the diminutive 4-axle
Alcos..it was off line. They headed east, and once again we ASS-U-ME-d that
they were going to the Grain Mill, but it wasn't to be. They evidently tied
that train up somewhere on the hill out of town, and could run it tomorrow.
After heading east, we but the bullet and caught the 97 heading west at
Cresco, where he blasted through without switching Bestway at about 3PM.....

Not a bad day, considering the D&H action, plus the moves in the yard with
three sets of power, and the Steamtown activity. (There were a lot of people
at Steamtown today).

PS: 4068 shut down still sitting on end of Diamond branch by bridge 60 all
day.
