(erielack) NJ & NY Railroad

One of my books, "Erie Railroad in Color" by David Sweetman, has a 
sketched map of the commuter service area.  It shows the NJ & NY joining 
the Piermont Branch at Nanuet and then leaving the branch at Spring 
Valley to go to Haverstraw. The map also shows a track heading straight 
north out of Nanuet, but no city is shown as the endpoint.  Did the NJ & 
NY ever cross the Piermont Branch at Nanuet and continue north?  Or 
might this map be in error?
