My great-uncle, Walter S. Jones, was killed in action in 1918 in France during
World War I. He was buried in France and his body wasn't exhumed and returned
stateside until mid-1921. 

What does this have to do with the EL and predecessors?

Tammy and I have been doing our family's geneaology for several years now and
we finally got around to digging in my great uncle Walter's army trunk, which
has been in my attic for 43 some years now. Among his effects was a complete 
copy of the North Tonawanda "The Evening News" from July 30, 1921. It was
there because there is a front page writeup of my uncle's body being returned
home. Was that the first thing I noticed in that paper? Of course not, all I
saw was "DARING ROBBERS LOOT ERIE TRAIN" and "MAKE GETAWAY WITH TRUCKLOAD."

I have scanned it and attached it to this email. There is also another article
"ERIE CAR SEVERS GIRL'S LEG" that is prtially included.

Not enough EL related content for you? The article on my great uncle also
states that another of my great uncles, Raymond T. Jones Jr. was enroute to
Hoboken to claim the body and escort it back to Buffalo. Any guesses as to how
he traveled from Buffalo to Hoboken and back again? :)
