In the mid 1950's, the Erie team tracks in Passaic, located between
the main line tracks and Central Ave., received box car loads of
rolls of newsprint for the Herald News which was located in Passaic
at that time. The rolls were off loaded into trucks which took them
to the newspaper printing location. I also remember flat cars with
military vehicles (tracked vehicles of some type) which were spotted
there, possibly for the National Guard which had a location in Passaic.

Across the main line from those team tracks, there was a siding along
side the A & J Friedman Plumbing Supply Company building. They
received box cars of plumbing fixtures (tubs, etc.) and soil pipe
(cast iron hub and spigot drainage pipe) and fittings from the
foundries in the South.
