Re: (erielack) Guard timber, rail, and rerailers



Frank,

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but as I recall from walking both the Cut-Off and
Old Main, Roseville and Manunka Chunk tunnels did not use guard rails.
Manunka Chunk still has tracks in both bores, so it would still be possible
to confirm it if one wanted to venture in past the collapsed lining on the
west side or the overgrowth on the east side.  The pictures in the Lowenthal
and Greenberg book show no guard rails at either Manunka Chunk or Oxford.
Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the DL&W in Pennsylvania can comment
on the Nay Aug and Factoryville tunnels.
