(erielack) Re: Cutoff

I recall the Amtrak train ran west early in the morning, at the tail end of the rush hour. I was very surprised to hear Denville Tower talking to an Amtrak engine that morning! I could be wrong but I thought they used the Wye at Denville Jct. for some reason.
Either way, I Wish I had a tape recorder running to capture all the chatter between the train, Denville and UN Tower (Dover had no radio) and the trainmaster monitoring the special move. I think a track car may have preceded the the train going west since it was "Rusty Rail" on the cutoff. I remember that comment about the track transmitted by UN when he gave a verbal train order to the special move.
I have a slew of Conrail trainorders issued from UN Tower. I will go through them and see what was moving on the cutoff at the time!
