(erielack) Seatrain

I think he meant Seatrain; that's what's in the picture. SeaLand was a
different outfit with another interesting corporate history. It's terminal
was at Port Newark and it generally used PC and LV-N&W to get inland. It was
part of Malcolm Mclean's empire which began life as Mclean trucking. When
Mclean went oob in 1986, SeaLand survived and grew, was acquired and later
sold by CSX, and was the last US flag carrier when bought by Danish shipping
line Maersk several years ago.

When did Seatrain Weehawken become SeaLand Weekawken?

The June, 1973, OG shows SeaLand as serving between Seattle and Anchorage
for cargo in trailers, and Seatrain offering containership service between
New York and Puerto Rico, New York and Europe and Oakland, CA, and Japan,
Guam and Kwajalein.

The "OG" is The Officail Guide Of The Railways And Steam Navigation Lines Of
The United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico And Cuba. By January, 1974,
it was railroad only, carrying no steamship listings or advertising.
