RE: (erielack) Erie Lackawanna "Grecian" Flatware

Some of the pieces are a little longer and wide than the originals - were are talking 1/16 - 1/8 inch. These pieces, like the originals, are "hotel plate" which is that heavy silver plate which has a wonderful weight to it. These are made by World Silver and not International Silver. The EL logo is perfect. Paul made the artwork for the new dies working from an original piece. Lookwise they are perfect. When you compare the size of the pieces with the originals they are about 95% perfect.

World also makes a polished stainless steel version of these pieces. We will probably stock the 741 with these. They are 1/3 the price of silver plate and can be washed with china at a normal temperature. The silverplate needs to be kept separate from other metals during washing and has to be done at a super high temperature per health code regulations (more stuff the EL Dining Car Department never had to deal with!)

How does the reproduction differ from the originals?

Thanks!

To all:

Just in time for the ELDCPS Convention at Scranton, Tim received the
reproduction EL Grecian pattern silverware. I can tell you how impressed I
am with
this very nice reproduction. As the original manufacturer, International
Silver,
no longer produces this pattern, it was a challenge to come up with a firm
who
could produce it.

Libby and World Silver came to our rescue. The flatware is slightly
different
from the originals, but not by much. The Diamonds are perfect, and stamped
at
the right location. They are gorgeous, and will certainly complement the
Erie
Starrucca pattern china, which was used up to the end of service.

ELDCPS can now provide the complete EL place setting. Silverware, china, and

the paper items to accurately portray what was used originally in the
Diners.
Many thanks to Tim Stuy, who has spearheaded this effort.

The flatware was selling very well at Scranton, and of course, we will be
using these reproductions in Diner 741.

Order your set today!!

Kind regards,

John Boehner, VP
