RE: (erielack) Boonton Line freight trains-analysis

Paul and lister,

The Bloomer or P&D (Passiac & Delaware) Roustabout went on duty in croxton about 0700 or 0800. It did switching Orange west to Gladstone and back to Croxton usually just making back on their hours of service. I'm not certain where the term Bloomer came from but I believe it was a hold over from when the job did local switching on the Montclair branch and especially at Bloomfield.

At one time this crew did the work at Orange yard and the Reingold Brewery. Later this work was just done by the local switcher called the "Pusher" that came out of Hoboken and did the local work to Harrison and on the Harrison cut-off, went to Ampere and sometimes to Montclair.
