Hello Paul,
I am looking for information that either gives me direct leads to
finding
the family of Martin T Nesbitt, say by finding someone who might have
worked
with him, or some records such as did the Barge people have a Union etc,
or
maybe just indirect details such as the life of people who worked on the
barges. Sometimes just getting an appreciation of that can be useful in
providing leads.
Martin and my grandfather were first cousins. The family all came from
a
pretty tough area of Liverpool in England and all worked in the maritime
industry. As Martin died 40 years ago it might be stretching it to find
someone he worked with but you never know. He was only 60 or so when he
crossed the bar.
I have been researching my family mainly in the UK and I had been
looking at
travelling over there later this year. It looks the way I'm heading
that it
could well be a round the world event.
Was it a family based occupation - I came from the Port of Adelaide and
you
needed to be related to someone to crack a job.
Many thanks for your reply and I hope to enjoy finding out about
relatives
in the US of A and the life of people in the industry on the wharves.
Kind regards
Jim Zeiher
