The Erie 6-6-4's were delivered from Pullman in July 1942, and assigned to 
the Erie Limited. These were part of an order placed by the Pullman Company 
for 119 of these cars built to plan 4099. When placed in Erie service, they 
had full skirting. As time passed, most of the skirting was removed to allow 
easier access for maintenance. 

As delivered from Pullman, the cars were painted Pullman green, with "
PUllman" in the letterboard.
