Can anyone describe in detail how LCL freight was handled on the EL and
its predecessor roads?  I was explaining how full boxcars were sorted to
my son, (he is 8 and very intrested in trains and how they work) but I
am lacking in this knowledge to explain LCL to him.  In addition how is
it handled now on roads like the DL (or other GVT holding) and NS or
CSX?  Is it the same or different? How does this relate to LTL in
trucking?  It this the same as well or are they two different things?

any help would be.... Well, helpful in making a Dad look smarter than he
really is.
