Re: (erielack) Diesel Cab Units - Interior Colors



Dear David,

Interesting question.  I can't comment on the specifics of DL&W / Erie /
EL cab interiors, but in general...

All of the Alco RS units I've been in have had "battleship grey"
interiors... seats are usually black or brown naugahyde.  A few of the
valves and fixtures are painted red, but the rest is pretty much grey. 
The floorboards are usually just natural wood -- blackened with grease
and oil.

All of the EMD E and F unit cabs I've been in were, as you mentioned, a
buff or cream yellow color.  There are a couple of black and white cab
interior shots in John Boehner's "Train 57 + two great employees" which
appeared in the last issue of The Diamond (v. 15 no. 2, p. 18).

Hope you get some responses from people who remember the actual EL
units.
