Re: (erielack) True Colors

Oh, brother!

Not that this isn't a good question, and not that this isn't a good place to
get opinions, but remember that is just what they are: Opinions.

Now, IMHO, I would use Scalecoat EL gray, EL maroon, and EL yellow. I found
them to match pretty well with the Accu-cal inks, but beware, the decal
setting solution for Accu-cals, Accu-set, does NOT get along with Scalecoat.
At least not on brass models. You have to apply an overcoat of clear
lacquer on top of the Scalecoat, and then use the Accu-set sparingly. And
no, you can't use Decal-Set, either, because it won't really do anything
worthwhile to the Accu-cals. Now, since Micro-Scale has printed some of the
Accu-cal sets in recent years, their Micro-Set MAY work on them, but I don't
know for sure.

Some will tell you that the Scalecoat colors are too, too dark. I don't
happen to think so, but you could lighten them a little with a bit of white,
but be aware that ScaleCoat white has quite a bit of blue in it, so it can
be pretty weird if you use too much. But then, I get the feeling that you
want "correct out of the bottle colors," yes?

I also think that the Polly-Scale colors aren't bad, but I don't have much
experience with them.

The brighter caboose reds look good to me. Remember, >>IMHO<<, and I like
to paint things "as new." They did get dirty and fade quickly.

And the tanks on my P2K DL&W versions are 12'-8" over the nubs on the ends
of the tanks . . .
