That's the original CR number series, probably the reason it's "NYC" - I
wonder why it wasn't renumbered into a CSX 6-digit number series so that the
"NYC" isn't needed?

Good question - until it gets repainted CSX, I suppose. There's still a LOT
of "NYC" freight cars running around with CR paint...
