Re: (erielack) Atlas N EL TT GP7 / HO Trainmasters Anyone?

Perhaps someone could suggest to Athearn that they rework this one a-la the
SD40-2 upgrade - flexible plastic handrails, better shell detail, better
motor - maybe even a way to alter it to build various carbody phases too. A
TM doesn't really fit into my layout, but I'd have to have one anyways just
because I have a soft spot for the beasts.

Of course I've been trying to tell them to do GP39-2's for ages now, because
it would be relatively simple to tool and use a lot of existing components
(cab, frame, drive, dynamic brake hatch, handrails, etc.), but no luck. I
think Athearn has missed the mark a little not retooling some of the older
shells and trying to scoop anyone else from duplicating the same engines.
I'd think it better to lose some money on the tooling and still have the
only good model of that locomotive, than to lose sales because someone else
makes a better model of the same loco -
