There isn't much left of the Groveland yards, just the old eastbound =
siding, one runaround siding to the south of it and the double Wye =
leading off to the connection with the Dansville & Mt. Morris. Most of =
the D&M business is gone and the G&W only goes to Groveland/Dansville =
about once a year if that! Unfortuantly the G&W was forced to buldoze =
the two stall enginehouse, oil house, and yard office about a year and a =
half ago, by concerned citizens. You couldn't even see the buildings =
from the road! They also dozed the old tower foundations at the east =
end of the yard, across from the depot platform. The large water =
pumphouse and the bases for the huge concrete tanks are still there. =
Now how to get there: going north on Rt63 into Groveland Station pass =
the intersection of Rt258 coming in from the left, you'll then see =
signs of the removed underpass, just past this on the left, there is a =
bunch of junk trucks and a road leading up to the old ROW follow it, RR =
west , compass NW , you will the pass the old depot platform on your =
right-the tower was directly across from it and follow the ROW until you =
see the dead end of the G&W(the old DL&W eastbound siding) in the weeds =
to your left. There may be a gate across the roadway and you may have =
to walk the extra 1/2 mile to where the Wye area. PS when they dozed =
the enginehouse they somehow left the slanted ash pit complete with the =
iron pedestals for the rail and the glazed brick. Good Luck David J. =
