Re: (erielack) PoconoDirect service

As for equipment for the Scranton service, the suggestions to decisions
makers have been that they use cars similar to the Heritage series in use on
AMTRAK (new equiment please) and not the usually NJT rolling stock. This is a
long run and regular commuter cars won't cut it. I "commute' to Boston for
business on the Dover/NYP/ Dedham (MA) run quite often. The club car and cafe
cars a reasonably relaxing. One hour on NJT is more of a drain than 4 hours
on AMTRAK because of the uncomfortable seats on Comet cars.

The engine change at New Haven isn't so bad. it takes no more than 10 minutes
on a bad day. Of course, that will soon be all electric to SSBoston.

A cafe` car service is likely for such a long run from Scranton. Trains will
be express to NYP (east of Dover) with stops at Dover (maybe Morristown)
Summit Newark (Broad St) and HOB/NYP. The HOB/NYP is still the unresolved
issue. NYP is the way to go. It might happen that way after all is said and
done right at the start.
