I know it's not in the U.S. but the Canadian Pacific Railway Windsor
Station in Montreal opened in February 1889. It much much expanded
and modified over the years but the original 1889 headhouse is still
there. Several U.S. trains came into Windsor, including those of the
Rutland, Boston & Maine, Delaware & Hudson and New York Central, the
last operating a commuter service out of Montreal until 1957. The
last intercity train to use the station was Amtrak's Adirondack from
New York in 1986. Commuter trains continued to use Windsor Station
until 1993, when what remained of the Bush train shed was demolished
to permit construction of the Molson Centre hockey arena and a new
commuter train facility was constructed west of the arena. The old
station was beautifully restored and I believe that it is the only
19th century railway station in North American still owned by the
company that built it.
