1900 Dayton Union Station opened.

1903 Wright brothers travel from Dayton to Kitty Hawk via NYC (Big 
Four) to Cincinnati, C&O to Newport News, steamer to Norfolk, NS to 
Elizabeth City, sailboat to Kitty Hawk.

1931 tracks elevated but station kept intact.

1955 neat photo of station from cab of a NYC Fairbanks Morse diesel:

mid-1960s city of Dayton tears down station to extend a city street 
and a smaller replacement structure is built.

1971 Amtrak arrives. All trains discontinued except National Limited (30 & 31).

1979 National Limited discontinued.

1987 replacement station razed.
