*Do you seriously not recognize Conrail blue and the "can-opener" logo?
The train in the original photo linked was Conrail's inspection train,
cobbled together from the various business cars inherited by Conrail. The
loco is 4022, former Erie Lackawanna, former Erie 833, now in the ownership
of Bennett Levin, owner of the ex-PRR units Conrail later acquired from
Amtrak (after HEP conversion) to power the business trains. 4022/833
reportedly still retains its original Vapor steam generator, so it's not
likely to get onto a train anytime soon. The D&H line under Starucca
Viaduct was removed in 1981-82, so I'm going to call this photo as being
between 1977 and 1981 (which was also the period when it was blue--the train
was repainted Pullman green in 1982 or 1983), which conveniently predates
the line's acquisition by the NYS&W ca. 1984-85.
