Railroad Anniversary

The museum dedicated to the oldest railroad station in the United States is
celebrating its 25th anniversary tonight.

The Ellicott City B&O Railroad Station Museum on Main Street, which opened
in 1976 and attracts about 20,000 visitors a year, will celebrate the
restoration of the station.

Opened in 1831, the station was the first stop outside Baltimore as the
railroad headed west. It stopped being active in the 1960s.

"I think people don't realize what a treasure it is," said Janet Kusterer,
president of Historic Ellicott City Inc., which owns and operates the
museum.
