Nonprofit organization plans to buy Seattle's
95-year-old railroad depot near Pioneer Square

SEATTLE - A nonprofit organization called Railroad Station Properties is
interested in purchasing the 95-year-old railroad depot near Seattle's
Pioneer Square from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF). Under
the proposal, the organization would sell tax-free bonds to buy and renovate
the station, then lease it to the Washington Department of Transportation
(DOT). The DOT would then rent out offices on the second and third floors,
with Amtrak continuing to use the first level of the King Street Station as
its railroad terminal.
