    I think you are referring to the Central Railroad of Long Island, which 
ran from Flushing through Floral Park to Babylon.  Although most of the line 
has been abandoned for over a century, parts of it are still used by the LIRR 
for the Hempstead Branch and the Central Branch, which runs from Bethpage to 
Babylon.  Part of the abandoned right-of-way north of Floral Park follows a 
street now known as Stewart Avenue.
