Re: (erielack) Erie Caboose C233

Jim
Per your inquire, From various caboose material and assignment I have, I
can tell you this. Cab 233 was built in 1945 at the Erie's Dunmore Car
Shops, Dunmore, PA.
In 1964 it was equipped to comply with Pennsylvania Sanitary Codes.
In 1965 is was assigned to RDG ( READING ) 98, and was equipped with an Oil
 Stove.
In 1970 it was listed as having Safety Glass, Sanitation, and Electric
Lights, but not Stone Guards.
In March of 1973 it was on the Day Falls Run.
In July of 1975 it was on the Rochester Local.
It's not on my list of Cabooses that got the GM&Y paint, but that's not to
say it didn't.
It became Conrail 19666, and was still on the CR roster as of 1984. The
last thing I show, is it owned by a Ray Flynn at Kent, OH. An old phone
number is 216-673-0629. He may have been associated with Rail Services, PO
Box 823, Kent, OH 44240-0823 ? After my Bay Window Caboose article in the
Diamond I was forwarded a small photo of it (around 1993) in a red dip job
paint scheme with pale yellow lettering, and end doors.

I'm trying to get some information on caboose C233. I first saw this
caboose in July, 2000 in Kent, OH and then again this past summer in Milan, MI.
From what I can ascertain, it was built by Dunmore shops in 1945 or 1946,
carried the same number throughout Erie and EL, and ended up restored in MI.

What I do not know is the following. Did this caboose make it into CR? How
did it end up in Kent, OH in Erie paint? Where did this caboose normally
hang out on the EL system? Are there any pictures showing this cab in
service?

I'm the President and newsletter editor for the Lehigh Valley Chapter NRHS
and I'm wanting to do an article on this caboose.

Thanks in advance for your help and information on this caboose.

Regards,
Jim Rowland
