Re: (erielack) 5012

Well, it has been outside the last 20+ years because of the decline and
internal fighting at the Ohio Railway Museum. I made them an offer to buy
the car back in 1990 only to have the price and terms change multiple
times. At least 3 groups within the museum claimed to be "in charge" and
each contradicted the others. I was young and naive back then and still
tried to do a deal - until they locked out an inspector from Norfolk
Southern who was going to help us figure out what we need to do to move it
(since then the track connecting them to NS has been ripped out).

I know the URHS tried twice to buy it and had the deals go south. I know
one individual in the industry that also tried and walked away, unable to
deal with them.

From a condition point of view the biggest issue is the roof more or less
open in the engine compartment as the exhaust pipes have worked loose
leaving huge holes. Also, someone took out the B end control stand in an
internal dispute, never to return.

I hope whoever bought it has the $$$ to move it and restore it, but the
point is it could have been started 20 years ago.
