Re: (erielack) DL&W Trainmasters in lieu of E8's in passenger service
Funny thing you asked about this Rich. Just last night I watched a DVD
called "Through the Guide" from Revelation Videos. It's a whole slew of
passenger trains from various railroads in the pre-Amtrak era.
In one of the segments it shows a DL&W passenger train being led by an E8
and a Trainmaster. The video shows the caption "The Phoebe Snow #3 & #6
Binghamton, NY Mid-Afternoon, Feb. 1958". The next train shown I guess is
#3 with the standard set of E's. The next train is the one with an E8 and a
Trainmaster, pulling in that order. This 7 minutes 20 seconds into the DVD.
It is noted that it is a rare combination.
