To add to Bill's comment ---

The Nanuet and New City Railroad was built in 1871, and abandoned in 1939.

The Palisades Interstate Parkway section north of the NY Thruway obliterates 
the right of way.

I've always wondered whether the sale of the right of way was encouraged by 
the Erie to Roberr Moses -- or vice versa --  for the Parkway construction.
