Re:Re: (erielack) Dearborn Station picture

Although this is seems off-topic, we can come up with this.

Beginning in 1945 and lasting until 1957, PRR (and NYC and B&O) participated in transcontinental services from New York and Washington to the west coast with AT&SF, UP, UP/SP, CB&Q/D&RGW/WP and CRI&P/SP. This involved transfers of occupied cars in Chicago among Union Station, Central, Dearborn and La Salle Street Stations.

List content? Well . . . of the four New York/Chicago carriers (allowing B&O/RDG/CNJ), only Erie did NOT take part in transcon traffic. Why?

Because they couldn't afford to dedicate a car? (They didn't have that many.)

Because they couldn't offer a fast enough schedule? (So what? The second day was spent in Chicago anyway.)

Ah . . . what if . . .

I believe PRR connected w/ UP Cities trains.

Were there any trains that connected with PRR that had through passenger equipment coming off a PRR connection that terminated at Dearborn? There probably was back then.
