For me, it's somewhat sad to hear about Great Notch soon to be disappearing 
off the map as a station stop...

Great Notch was where I first became enamored w/the EL (helped out by living 
within earshot of the Caldwell Branch in Verona) and had my first exposure 
to EL mainline trains there...

In the early- to mid '70's, the EL was sending a considerable amount of 
frieght traffic via Scranton and Port Morris, providing the ability to see 
several freights in an afternoon, plus seeing the Silver Lake drill, 
Greenwood Lake drill and the Totowa Routabout headed east before the 
commuter rush started...

I haven't been back there since '88, and I'm sure it'd be difficult to see 
what it's like today compared to when I was last there - Thankfully, I've 
got some EL shots to remember the area from...
