Re: (erielack) Canal Branch (2)

The Ohio Dept. of Transportation is assisting the City of Youngstown and V&M
Steel w/adminsitering $20 milllion the City recieved in stimulus funds, that
are going towards development of the site basically from the current V&M
mill out to I-80, and from the former EL south to the Canal Branch, to
develop that area into an industrial park, primarily for a new V&M Steel
finishing facility for pipe that is made there (which is currently shipped
out of state for finishing).

Although V&M will not formally announce this new expansion 'till the Spring
(supposedly other out-of-state sites are also under consideration), a major
earth-moving/excavation project has already been awarded for that portion
between the Canal Branch and NS's (former PRR) Lordstown Sec., and will
provide basically a flat and level, buildable site.

Phase 2 will be more intesive, with new track connections to/from OC and NS,
as well as new road infrastructure to be constructed, and is scheduled for
sale in the next 60 days by the City...
