(erielack) Free-Mo modules

Is Free-Mo something relatively new or has it been around for awhile and just now started to become more popular.  I went to the free-mo.org web site to find out more about it and it appears to be more exacting in their standards for modules.  How would someone get involved with doing something like this with other members of the list?
