Yes, I would be very interested in this.  It might be a year to two down the road, but I'm definitely interested.  There are some things that I would like to do EL-wise that just won't fit into my small layout, but would definitely work in a module.

I'm sure there are standards out there on the web somewhere. 

It sure would be cool!!!
