OFF the topic at hand, does anyone know if Morristown & Erie still goes  down 
the NJT Morristown line to reach the Center Street Branch to  pick up tank 
cars destined for the Whippany line??

Yes they do on an as-needed basis. Traffic is primarily loaded tankcars destined 
for Andesol, the former Royal Lubricants factory in East Hanover. Contrary to 
rumors that have circulated recently they are not hauling jet fuel for 
repocessing. When Conrail was split up part of the deal included interchange 
with CSX for the M&E thus giving them and their consignees two alternative 
routings. Competition is good thing in a case such as this. Since the merger of 
the DL&W and the Erie in 1960 the M&E and its customers have not had a choice in 
rates and routings.
