Henry,
I don't know how Forbes arrived at those figures. I agree with you - bad
news sells but, here in the Youngstown-Warren Metropolitan area that the
unemployment rate is at or near 8%. There was also an article in the local paper
that stated since the year 2000? this area has lost about 100,000 people. We
were about 1/2 a million people now down to 400,000 or less.
It seems like a factory announces a closing here much more often tan we'd
like. In fact, it was just announced last week that one on the Delphi plants I
worked at (Cortland - Plant 45) will be closing in the first quarter of 2009.
More jobs for Mexico. Some of those jobs will go to another local plant.
